Confused between the BS6 Honda Dio and the BS4 model? We help you choose the best one!
Honda recently launched the BS6-compliant version of its sporty 110cc scooter, the Dio. As of now, both the BS4 Dio as well as the BS6-compliant version areon sale. But the brand will take the BS4 version off the market once BS6 emission norms come into effect from April 1. If you’re confused as to which one to buy right now, you’ve come to the right place.
Buy Honda Dio BS6 for its feature list and better styling:
The Honda Dio BS6 comes with the same engine as the newly-launched Honda Activa 6G BS6. However, it receives a different state of tune. The Dio BS6 makes slightly more torque, that too earlier down the rev range compared to the Activa 6G. It produces 7.76PS at 8000rpm and 9Nm at 4750rpm. Apart from the slightly more torque, it also gets a silent starter, tumble flow fuelling tech and friction reduction technology for optimum refinement and fuel efficiency.
More importantly, the scooter now rides on a telescopic front fork with a bigger 12-inch steel wheel. The rear retains the 10-inch setup but it gains a new 3-step preload-adjustable monoshock. These additions should considerably improve the ride quality. For better convenience, it also features a redesigned all-LCD instrument cluster which now shows real-time mileage. There’s an external fuel filler cap that can be opened via an apron-mounted switch too. Additionally, it also comes with a sportier bodywork, a 3-year standard warranty and an optional warranty of three more years.

The Honda Dio BS6 is priced at Rs 59,990 for the Standard version and Rs 63,340 for the Deluxe model. This makes it more expensive than the BS4 Dio by Rs 5,749 and Rs 7,099, respectively. Honda offers quite a few tangible and intangible features for the added premium. All these additions make the BS6 Dio a much better all-round product than the BS4 version.
Honda Dio BS4: Buy for its more affordable pricing
The Honda Dio BS4 costs Rs 54,241 for the Standard variant and Rs 56,241 for the Deluxe model. You may save up some money over the BS6 iteration but you’ll have to compromise on ride quality. That’s because it rides on 10-inch steel wheels on both ends, a trailing link front suspension and a non-adjustable rear shock absorber. It also makes do with a conventional underseat fuel filler cap, which will force you to get off the scooter and open up the seat every time you want to refuel.
But on the flip side, the scooter makes slightly more power but even that comes at a marginal expense of outright torque. Overall, the Honda Dio BS4 seems like a good option only if you’re under a strict budget. Moreover, some dealers may be trying to clear their stocks as the BS6 emission deadline is approaching rapidly. So there’s a good chance of finding deals and discounts on the BS4 compliant model.
