Honda’s moto-scooter, the NAVi is gaining popularity due to its unique design and economical price of just Rs. 39,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Sources at HMSI have confirmed that 900 bookings have already been placed and that they expect the number to cross the one thousand mark soon. The bookings for this two-wheeler are about to reach the four-digit mark. The NAVi is getting a great response in the country and can be booked through its mobile application. The deliveries of the NAVi will start from the month of April and only the base model will be available for now. Coming in three variants - Street, Adventure and Off-road, it will be sold in following colour options - Patriot Red, Shasta White, Hooper Green, Sparky Orange and Black. It is also the first product that has been developed completely by Honda at their R&D center in India. Housing the same 110cc engine as Activa 3G, the mill generates 7.83bhp of maximum power at 7,000rpm enabling it to reach a claimed top speed of 81kmph.
Speaking about the reason behind launching the NAVi, Mr. Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President – Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd (HMSI) said, “With India having the world’s youngest population, it is imperative for Brand Honda to connect with the youth. NAVi will take forward Honda’s Fun DNA in India. Considering the potential & moving away from the Syndrome of Sameness, Honda R&D India challenged to create “new additional value for India” – NAVi.”
Mr. V Sridhar, Senior VP and Director, corporate office production, HMSI, said, “We wanted to provide something additional to the scooter, and this bike was designed. India is catching up fast with the growing scooterisation in developed economies and ASEAN nations. Demand for scooters is growing fast, we are trying to match the demand.”
Launched at such a competitive price, this crossover of a scooter and motorcycle might be successful in attracting the youth and add to the growing min-bike segment in India. Made for the young at heart, it can prove to be a good choice for parents to gift their kid as a beginner two-wheeler.
