The Honda Navi reached breached the 50,000 units sales milestone
When Honda launched the Navi at the 2016 Auto Expo, it took one and all by surprise. The Navi is a hybrid of a scooter and mini-motorcycle. The most amusing part is the fact that it comes from Honda which is known for its conservative nature. While critics dismissed the Navi as a gimmick, Honda believed that its quirky offering had the potential. The Japanese two-wheeler giant announced that sales for the Navi have crossed 50,000 units prior to the festival season boom.
The Navi reached this feat of 50,000 unit sales within six months of it going on sale. In fact, the Honda Navi also featured in the top-10 highest selling scooters in our country. The Honda Navi was marketed as an offering for urban commuting for youngsters and the quirkiness of the two-wheeler offering seems to have clicked among the youth. Such has been the demand for the Navi, that Honda has doubled the production for it to almost 1 lakh units per annum. The Navi is also now offered with an optional utility box for the convenience of storage.
The Navi is sold only in 10 cities currently, but given the demand we feel Honda will soon increase this and expand the sales further. The Honda Navi retails for Rs 39,648 (ex-showroom Delhi). The mini bike is powered by the same tried and tested 110cc four-stroke engine which also powers the Activa, and is capable of producing 8PS of power and 9Nm of peak torque. The fuel tank capacity is 3.8 litres and claimed fuel efficiency figure is 60kmpl.
