Honda One Make Race 2014 Grand Finale concluded at the Madras Motor Race Track

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) today concluded the grand finale of ‘Honda One Make Race 2014’, amid much fanfare and excitement at the Madras Motor Race Track.

In Round 5, newcomer Ami Van Poederooijen took a surprise win in the Honda CBR 150 Novice category. Vivian Gladwin David came in 2nd with Shoban Bapu getting his first podium of the year to finish in 3rd place. Naresh Babu was crowned Champion even though he finished in a distant 7th place. The Final Round of the 2014 MMSC- FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship got off to a great start with Sarath Kumar winning a 4-way tussle in the Honda CBR 250 Open race. Sarath was unstoppable in qualifying when he was 1 second faster than his rivals but the race proved to be a completely different ball game. Sarath started on pole position and led from Deepak R and Sumit Lucas Toppo. Lal Rindika also joined the action and soon all 4 riders were swapping places throughout the race. In the end Sarath used his experience to cross the finish line in first place, 0.082secs ahead of Deepak. Rindika finished in 3rd place just ahead of Sumit Lucas Toppo with the top 4 being covered by 0.570secs.

Mr. Keita Muramatsu, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Honda is committed to promoting Motorsport culture in India. As the next step, Honda initiated the Honda Asia Dream Cup in 2012. We are encouraged by the improvement in performance of the Indian riders in the competition and forthe first time, two Indian riders have become among top the 10 riders across Asia. We wish them the best in the remaining two rounds at Thailand and Qatar.We have also signed an MoU with Ten 10 Racing Academy for training riders over 15 years of age. We will also continue to provide all possible support and nurture youngsters.”

 

From India, Honda has sponsored three riders - Mr.  Sumit  LocusToppo,  Mr. Prabhu Arunagiri and Mr. Sarath S. Till now 4 out of the 6 rounds have been conducted at Malaysia, Indonesia and Japan.  This year for the first time, two Indian riders are among Top 10 riders till now. The action is set to intensify in the two remaining rounds in Thailand (7-9 November) and Qatar (11-13 December).
