If the BS6 Honda Shine isn’t cutting it for you, take a look at these options around the same price
Honda was one of the first manufacturers to complete its BS6 transition and with it came a streamlined product portfolio of six two-wheelers. It was no surprise that the Japanese bikemaker’s best-selling motorcycle, the Honda Shine made the cut. But it now comes at a price of Rs 72,557, Rs 8,300 more than the outgoing Honda CB Shine 125. An expensive proposition indeed. If you think the BS6 Honda Shine isn’t meant for you, take a look at these options around the same price bracket.
Hero Maestro Edge 125-Fi - Rs 71,450
Yes, it’s a scooter, but the Maestro Edge 125 now packs a fuel-injected motor which packs just as much punch as the Honda Shine. Plus, it’s more practical to live with. You have plenty of storage space, an external fuel-filler cap, USB charging port, i3S technology along with a bunch of other creature comforts. All this while saving money.
Hero Super Splendor BS6 - Rs 71,650
Alternatively, you could opt from Hero’s best-selling bike, the Super Splendor in its BS6 avatar. It makes just as much power if not more than the Honda Shine but loses out on torque. While it stays in tune with the tried-and-tested Splendor design language, it has a greener motor and gets i3S technology as standard -- a nifty feature the Shine misses out on.
Suzuki Access 125 SP BS6 - Rs 71,700
The BS6 Access 125 also makes it to the list and for good reason. It’s just as powerful as before and manages to eke out more fuel efficiency from its fuel-injected motor compared to its predecessor. The motor feels even more lively than before without scrimping on refinement levels. Yes, it hasn’t changed much in terms of looks, but it now packs a full-LED headlight and offers a lot more in terms of value for money. One of the best scooters to live with according to us.
TVS NTorq 125 Race Edition - Rs 73,365
Now if you’re looking for something a bit more exciting than the Access 125, you could consider the BS6 NTorq 125 Race Edition. It feels eager and is a whole lot of fun to ride in the city. There’s plenty of power available at your disposal and the scooter feels extremely stable even when you whack open the throttle and keep it pinned till about 100kmph. Besides, the sheer heft of the scooter makes you feel like you’re riding a maxi-scooter. That said, it’s quick to tip in and feels quite nimble while weaving through traffic. Not to mention, it comes with a host of features and sets the benchmark in its segment on that front.
Bajaj Pulsar 125 Neon Disc BS6- Rs 75,494
The Pulsar range has had a cult following for over a decade now, and you could be part of the crew with the Pulsar 125 Neon. It may feature a small engine compared to its cousins, but it makes more power than the Honda Shine BS6. Plus, it still retains the Pulsar DNA with a muscular tank, an aggressive front fascia, and slightly sporty ergonomics. If you’re a beginner rider or a college student, the Pulsar 125 Neon could be the perfect fit for you.
