The CBF190X was unveiled at the China bike Expo
Honda entered the entry-level segment of adventure tourers with its sub-200cc CBF190X which it recently unveiled at the China International Motorcycle Trade Exhibition in Chonqin. Named as the Fight Hawk for the Chinese domestic market, the small-capacity sports tourer looks purposeful with high handlebar, long-travel front suspension and adventure add-ons in the form of a tall floating windscreen and small beak in the front that is meant to act like a secondary mudguard. It comes in Honda’s heritage paint scheme of White, Red and Blue also seen on the new Africa Twin.
Power comes courtesy a 184cc air-cooled single cylinder motor that makes 15Ps at 11,000rpm and 15Nm of torque at 7000rpm and is delivered to the rear wheel via a five-speed gearbox. Braking duties are handled with a single front and a single rear petal disc. The frame seems to be a simple downtube affair with a larger capacity tank that should extend touring range. The bike weights a mere 148 kilograms and should appeal to younger riders who dream of owning a bigger ADV bike someday.
While the CBF190X is a China-only product like its twin brethren – the CB190R and CBF190R and currently Honda has no plans to get it to India, we hope that Honda brings the bike here as it will find a perfect niche in the entry-level adventure-tourer segment currently occupied by Bajaj Pulsar AS 180 and AS 200.
