Honda has launched its next-generation Activa 125 in India . The 125cc scooter is the first BS6 compliant two-wheeler to be sold in the country and thats way before the BS6 norms deadline of April 2020.

First off, the new Activa 125 retains the familiar Activa family silhouette but gets a revised front fascia and an external fuel-filler cap now. The headlamp, as well as the pilot lamps on the front fascia, are LED-lit. You have a new semi-digital instrument console shows average and real-time fuel efficiency as well as distance to empty. It also gets features like a side-stand engine immobiliser, pass light switch as well as an engine start-stop system- a Honda first. Honda has also equipped the new Activa 125 with an ACG starter motor which they claim makes starting the scooter a silent process and requires less battery power. Powering the Activa 125 is a new fuel-injected motor. With a focus on getting emission levels down, the motor’s performance seems to have taken a back seat. The new motor now makes 8.29PS at a lower 6000rpm compared to the previous scooter's motor that delivered 8.63PS at 6500rpm. However, with the start-stop tech and fuel-injection, Honda claims a 13 percent improvement in fuel efficiency. It gets the same CVT transmission as before.
The new Activa 125 carries the same underpinnings as the previous generation Activa 125. It gets telescopic forks and a monoshock. Braking is via a front disc and rear drum with Combined Braking System as standard.
The new Honda Activa 125 is available in 3 variants: Std, Alloy and Deluxe. The Standard variant gets drum brakes and steel pressed wheels. Its higher Alloy variant gets drum brakes and alloy wheels and features like side stand engine kill switch and range and fuel efficiency calculator. The top spec Deluxe variant gets all the features of the Alloy variant plus a front disc brake and start stop system. The Activa 125 commands a premium of Rs 6,863 over the previous Activa 125’s price tag of Rs 60627, (ex.showroom Delhi, Std drum brake variant). The new Activa 125 will compete against the Hero Maestro Edge 125 and Suzuki Access 125.
