Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Ltd, a subsidiary of Japan based leading car maker Honda Motors, is all set to launch a new bike in the volume-Driven entry-level bike segment. According to Mr Shinji Aoyama, President and CEO at HMSI,  the company may need to enter in the segment of starting range bikes in future. He added that company is going to enter into the mass segment very soon.

At present, Hero Honda India is the largest bike maker in the Indian market that sales an array of mass-segment bikes in the country including Hero Honda CD Dawn, Hero Honda Spender and Hero Honda  CD-Deluxe.

It is to be mentioned here that HMSI had launched a 110 cc bike in India early this year, named as Honda CB Twister. But as the CB Twister model has been priced in the range of Rs 45,000 to 50,000, the company is now looking to tap the high demand in the price segment of Rs 35,000 to 45,000 segment.

Further indicating about the price and specifications of this new bike Mr Aoyama said that the new bike should be priced lower than the Twister, that currently has a Delhi ex-showroom price of Rs 43,000. However, he refused to give any concrete details in this regard.

There are more than half a dozen vehicles available in the HMSI's portfolio including Honda CBF Stunner, Honda Shine, Honda Unicorn and Honda VFR.
