Setting a new milestone in promoting road safety as a responsible corporate, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) – the Only 2 Wheeler Company of Honda continues to reinforce its initiative of safety riding in Jaipur. After inaugurating its first-ever Traffic Education Park in India in January’13 by entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Science & Technology, Government of Rajasthan, HMSI has trained over 7000 enthusiasts in Jaipur.
HMSI safety team is training around 1000 people between the age group of 5 to 18 every month. Team has also provided training to over 300 females at the Jaipur traffic training park encouraging them to experience the joy of safe riding. Apart from this, we have also tied up with many corporate houses for imparting traffic training to their employees.
Speaking on HMSI Road safety initiative, Mr. Harpreet Singh, Department Head, Safety Riding Promotion, HMSI,” We have received an overwhelming response to safety riding training at our Jaipur Traffic training park. Our objective is to generate awareness on road safety amongst commuters. Safety training is not only about training new riders but also educating existing riders on the correct method of riding.” Globally, Road Safety Promotion is one of Honda's top priorities worldwide since 1970. Under the “People Come First” philosophy, Honda follows Safety as integral part of all its business activities. In India too, Honda is committed to making Safe Riding an everyday habit for all 2Wheeler riders. Honda operates with a unique “4S” approach where it promotes Safety Riding in addition to Sales, Service & Spares under one roof.
The Traffic Park is located inside the Science Park at Shastri Nagar, Jaipur City which is spread across total area of 10 acres, out of which over 3 acres land is dedicated to the Traffic Park. Honda in association with Govt. of Rajasthan is training people on safe riding and any eligible rider can enroll for safe riding at the park, free of cost.
At the Traffic Park, Honda promotes Road Safety through its unique Lifetime Safety Education starting from the age of 5 to adults with a special focus on new & female riders. Special Primary School activity for children from 5-8 years of age is also planned regularly to promote safety among the young ones by making them learn the “fun way”. Honda’s specially imported CRF 50 model facilitates young minds from 9-12 years to understand the importance of safety riding through practical riding experience.
Theoretical sessions & riding trainer (also present at every Honda dealership across India), aids people above 16 years of age to experience over 100 possible dangers on road. This virtual experience increases their ability to predict & react to traffic hazards by creating awareness & knowledge about potential risks & solutions.
