Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) Tapukara plant that recently faced a workers’ strike has returned to normal production on Monday. The production facility is situated at Tapukara in Alwar district of Rajasthan. The staff was demanding that the four workers, who had been fired a few days back should be reinstated. According to the company, the four workers were creating disturbances in the factory and hence, the management had decided to fire them.
The Tapukara plant in Alwar has a total production capacity of 1.2 million two-wheelers per year. An official statement from the company said, "Tapukara factory started operations from the very next day (17th February, 2016) after setting right the damage done to some of the machinery during the illegal strike in plant on 16th February, 2016. Since past five days, more and more associates have started resuming duties in the shifts. Today, production has returned to normalcy.”
While most of the workers have gone back to work, a few of them are still continuing the strike and are demanding to take those four men back on duty. The factory has a total staff of 3,000 workers that includes management and employees, both. Workers’ strikes in companies is a phenomenon that do not need an introduction. Such things besides halting the production, put the company into other damages as well. During such times, it is quintessential for companies to carry out talks with their workers to resolve the issue as soon as possible.
