Honda, the Japanese multinational, which is now India’s third largest two-wheeler manufacturer and the largest scooter manufacturer as an individual entity after its split with former ally and world’s no. 1 two wheeler manufacturer in terms of volume of sales produced Hero MotoCorp, is now planning to start exporting Honda Dream Yuga from November 2012. The targets of the company will be the neighbouring developing nations of Sri Lanka and Nepal to being the export. As of now the company has 2 manufacturing plants set up in the country, the first one being at Manesar in Haryana and the latter being at Alwar in Rajasthan with a total capacity of 2.8 million units produced per annum. The third plant which is undergoing construction in Narsapuram, Karnataka is expected to start functioning in the second half of next year with the capacity of 1.2 million. HMSI looks motivated in reaching out to both indigenous and export market with the increase in manufacturing and extension of factories.

Honda Dream Yuga

Recently, Honda launched its newest tourer in Mumbai, Honda Dream Yuga. This entry-level traveller runs on a 110cc engine and Dream Yuga price is set at Rs. 48,028.  Honda seems to rely on Dream Yuga big time and is offering it in five colors. Domestic two-wheeler sales have been affected heavily by poor economic conditions, but the company is as positive as ever and expects an increase in its market share by 3%. Honda currently enjoys 15% share in Indian two-wheeler market and a significant majority of it comes from scooters. Let us just hope Honda owns the entry-level market just like the scooter market.
