The updates will help it go against the likes of the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and the Pulsar N160 better

While the Hero Xtreme 160R impressed us a lot when we first rode it, what was even better was its extremely appealing pricing. The Hero bike managed to undercut the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and it is still more affordable than the Bajaj Pulsar N160. And now, with the updated Hero Xtreme 160R incoming, we hope Hero is able to do the same. But before we talk about the pricing, let’s have a look at what the updated bike could get.

Mechanical Changes

The biggest change is obviously a BS6.2 and OBD 2-compliant, four-valve engine that could result in a slight increase in the output figures, which currently stand at 15.2PS and 14Nm.

New Hardware

Next is an upside down fork, a feature that no bike in the segment except the Pulsar NS160 has and it should ideally result in a bike that handles even better.

Cosmetic Changes

The updated bike could also feature some cosmetic changes. While the bike already looks sporty and aggressive, some design changes and a couple of new colour schemes could add an extra touch of sportiness and flair.

More Features

And finally, its LCD console could also undergo an update. While it’s a basic one as of now, it could now get Bluetooth connectivity as well as turn-by-turn navigation.

All in all, these are the new bits we expect to see on the updated bike. And for these, we think it could carry a premium of Rs 5,000 - 6,000. Why such a less premium, you say? Well, you see the cosmetic changes and turn-by-turn navigation aren’t a hard fix. And talking about the 4V engine, both the updated XPulse 200 4V and the XPulse 200T 4V carried a minimal premium and we expect the same to happen with this bike. And given how usually spot-on Hero is with its pricing, it’s likely that the new bike will not carry an over-the-top premium.

These things said, only time will tell what the exact premium will be. So stay tuned to BikeDekho as the bike arrives on our shores on June 14.
