It could be based on the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter
- Husqvarna’s electric scooter may be offered with two powertrain options.
- It could deliver a range of 90km.
It’s no news that electric vehicles are the future. In fact, most two-wheeler manufacturers have already begun working towards this transition. Brands like Harley-Davison and Ducati are also bringing e-bikes to the mix. The newest entrant in the segment is Swedish bike maker Husqvarna who revealed its future plans at a recent investor’s meet. Interestingly, its strategy includes an electric scooter for 2022.
While details are scarce, Husqvarna has revealed the e-scooter will be offered with two powertrain options: the entry-level variant with a 4kW motor and a top-spec model with 11kW unit. What's more interesting is that just a couple of months ago, KTM announced its plans of working on a 4kW electric scooter. Coincidence much?
We believe KTM and Husqvarna may use the Chetak electric scooter as its base and build its version over it. KTM's interpretation could be sharp and aggressive while Husqvarna could have its premium take on the scooter. And since the Chetak offers a claimed range of 95km, the Swedish e-scooter is likely to boast similar numbers.
Expect the scooter to feature all the bells and whistles one can think of, from LED lights, a fully digital instrument cluster and Bluetooth connectivity to different ride modes. But that's not the end of the story. Husqvarna is also working on an electric stand up scooter that is exactly what the name suggests -- it doesn't have any seats. Having said that, this stand up scooter is still in development stages and won't be making it to the markets anytime soon.
