The BS6 iterations of both the bikes were launched in the early weeks of March 2020
- Jawa has already revealed the price and specs of the bikes.
- BS6 Jawa and Jawa 42 make 0.86PS and 0.95Nm less power and torque than before.
- Both bikes weigh 2kg more now.
- Premium of around Rs 5,000 to Rs 9,928 over the BS4 models.
Deliveries for both the BS6 Jawa and Jawa Forty-Two were earlier expected to commence from the first week of April 2020, however, the timelines had to be readjusted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Good news is, the bikes have started rolling into dealerships. Apart from the engine update, the bikes remain unchanged.
The Jawa and Jawa Forty-Two are powered by a BS6-compliant 293cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that now makes 26.51PS of power and 27.05Nm of peak torque. That’s 0.86PS and 0.95Nm less than the outgoing BS4 models. The weight of a larger cat-con also adds 2kg to the overall weight of the BS6 models. How this will affect the bikes’ riding dynamics is currently unknown. We should have a better idea once we put the bikes through a thorough road test. Here’s a detailed price list of both the bikes and their respective colours:
In case you're wondering, the Jawa and Jawa Forty-Two go up against the Royal Enfield Classic 350 BS6, the Bajaj Dominar 250 and the soon to be launched Royal Enfield Meteor 350.
