Jawa is getting ready for its first launch of 2021, a new trim of the Forty Two. The neo retro Jawa was spotted on test earlier and it has once again appeared, this time in a more production-ready guise. The launch of this new model is likely to take place early next month, with deliveries hopefully starting by March onwards. Prices are likely to go up a bit.
Alloy rims are set to make their appearance on the Forty Two, as Jawa hopes to make its best selling model even more practical. This would allow the fitment of tubeless tyres, a boon for our highly-reputed puncture-inducing roads.
Aside from that, the 293cc engine will now appear in dark mode. All the chrome bits from the standard bike have now been blacked out, with even the suspension units getting a dark theme. The only bit of chrome to be still found on the bike is the fuel filler cap.
Jawa has managed to minimise performance losses after updating the engine to BS6 emission norms. The 293cc mill manages to push out 26.51PS and 27.05Nm while tipping the scales at 172kg, 2kg more than the BS4 bike. We do not know if Jawa has changed the tune of this motor but we were pretty impressed by the versatility of the larger 334cc mill of the Perak. In our recent tryst with Jawa’s bobber, we found the new motor to be more accessible and easier to use in everyday commuting as well as out on the highway.
Will there be similar tweaks to the smaller engine as well? To know the answer, make sure you stick around on BikeDekho.com as we will get astride the new Forty Two pretty soon.
