We list down accessories, performance parts and merchandise we’d love to see on the new Jawa and Jawa 42

Though the new Jawas look good, we would love to see some cool accessories that let you further customise your ride. From our talks with the folks at Classic Legends, we suspect that the Mahindra-owned company will soon roll out a few performance upgrades and merchandise our way. Though there’s not much information regarding them, we’ve listed down a couple of accessories, performance parts and products that we’d like to see on the new Jawas.

Accessories:

Saddle bags

You would most definitely need a pair of these if you love travelling. Saddlebags are extremely useful as they provide ample storage space to hold all your essentials in place. Although saddlebags aren’t waterproof by themselves, you could easily purchase some rain covers for them.

Windscreen

With that extra cog on the new Jawa’s gearbox, we’re sure it will make for good tourers on the highway. That said, these bikes aren’t faired, so you could face some windblast which strains your neck and back after a few hundred kilometres of constant riding. To prevent this from happening, the company could offer an optional windscreen which should help mitigate the windblast to some extent.

Backrest

Considering its touring pedigree, we could expect Jawa to offer a well-padded backrest for the pillion rider. The lumbar support should offer a better riding experience and prevent the pillion from sliding off the seat in case of quick overtakes.

Smartphone holder

A smartphone holder will prevent the rider from trying to constantly reach out for his/her phone to answer calls or for accessing navigation apps. An easily accessible phone will create less of a distraction, making your daily ride that much safer.

Auxiliary lights

Most highways in the world aren’t well lit due to expenses associated with roadway lighting. And the headlight on the Jawa may not provide the desired illumination one needs at night. In essence, auxiliary lights provide that extra bit of illumination that’ll help you see further into the distance and keep a watchful eye for animals/people crossing, sharp turns, vehicles, etc.

Optional mirrors

The Classic Jawa features chrome mirrors while the slightly modern Jawa 42 gets bar-end mirrors. So we won’t be surprised if the company offers the latter as an optional extra for the standard bike. This will allow riders to choose the one that suits their style.

Optional fuel-filler cap

During our interview with the folks at Classic Legends, they hinted that the bikes could be offered with custom fuel-caps apart from the standard ones. Having the liberty to choose a personalised fuel-cap with engravings sounds pretty cool, doesn’t it?

Performance Upgrades

While we don’t expect a bonkers performance kit for the bike, an optional performance exhaust or better tyres wouldn’t be all that bad. A free flowing exhaust could improve engine performance while stickier tyres might improve its handling. And who doesn’t love a sweet sounding exhaust?

Jawa Merchandise

Much like its rival Royal Enfield, the manufacturer is also working on some exciting merchandise to go along with its classic bikes. The products could range from T-shirts, jackets, gloves, shoes, helmets, riding pants, keychains, belts to caps to promote the brand’s long history and the bikes’ classic styling.
