Jorge Lorenzo won the final round of 2015 MotoGP held at Valencia and managed to take an overall 5-point lead against his teammate, Valentino Rossi to register his third MotoGP title. This was also his seventh victory in this year’s edition. Before the final race, Rossi was leading Lorenzo by 7 points, but due to a clash between Marquez and Rossi during last race, Rossi had to start from the last position as a penalty.

Valentino Rossi (325) started well and made it to the fourth spot in the twelfth lap but, unfortunately, could not go ahead of Marc Marquez (242), Dani Pedrosa (206) and Jorge Lorenzo (330). There was a slight chance of Rossi winning the title, either with Lorenzo coming third and Rossi holding on to the fourth spot or Rossi coming second with Lorenzo winning the race. Both these riders represent the same team, Movistar Yamaha. The team managed to win the championship very early in the season and it was a battle of title between its motorists.

After winning the title, Jorge Lorenzo said, "I was under a lot of pressure, the rear tyre was destroyed." He added, "I just tried to focus and go as fast as possible, the bike was moving around so much. I was praying to finish the race. Now I am five-times world champion, it is easy to say but hard to do. I am very proud. This is a world title for Spain."

Marc Marquez finished second in the final race. Talking about it, he said, "I was preparing an attack for the last few laps but when Dani went past me I lost time. I tried to take Jorge in the last corner but there were a lot of risks and I nearly lost the front. Second place is not the best way to end the season but next year we will fight for the championship again."

Valentino Rossi held Marc Marquez responsible for not winning, he said, "Today was embarrassing for everybody. It was unbelievable, the behaviour of Marquez is something very bad for everything, especially for the sport. It is something that nobody expects because a Honda rider that made a Yamaha rider win and give the maximum just to push out his team-mate is something that nobody expects and I think it is very, very bad news. Anyway, it is like this, we have to accept it."
