Kawasaki India Launches The New Z900, Z650 And Ninja 650 At Rs 9.0 Lakh, 5.19 Lakh And 5.69 Lakh (ex-Delhi) Respectively
After the launch of the premium Ninja ZX-10RR, Kawasaki India is focussing on the more popular middleweight range and has replaced quite a few models with its current international line-up. The Z650 replaces the ER-6n, the Ninja 650 replaces its older namesake while the Z900 is a more powerful, more dynamically capable replacement of the Z800.
Kawasaki Z900-
The Z900 gets sharper lines borrowed from the Z1000's Sugomi design. It has an all-new 948cc, in-line four motor derived from the Z1000's 1043cc powerplant. It develops 125PS and 98.9Nm of torque. The new trellis frame helps reduce weight by 20 kilos. The new gear ratios are said to offer better mid range and top end.
Suspension setup includes 41mm upside down forks and a horizontally mounted rear monoshock that's adjustable for preload and rebound. The Z900 gets dual 300 mm front disc brakes with four-piston Nissin callipers and a 250 mm rear disc with a single-piston calliper. ABS is standard. The Z900 is priced at Rs 9.0 lakh (ex-Delhi) with accessories.
Kawasaki Z650-
The Z650 gets sharper styling and a new frame that helps reduce weight and should make the bike dynamically more competent. The Z650 is 19 kilos lighter than the ER-6n though the 650cc parallel twin motor sees a 4PS drop in power owing to Euro 4 norms. The bike now makes 68PS with better mid-range. Ergonomics have been improved. It gets a lower 790mm seat. Features include a standard ABS and a new slipper clutch. The Z650 is priced at Rs 5.19 (ex-Delhi)
Kawasaki Ninja 650-
The new Ninja 650 has a racier design with a sharper fairing and design borrowed from the Ninja ZX-10R. It has a new and shorter tail section. Other design changes include lower 790mm split seats, a new, more rigid trellis frame and three new colours - Metallic Spark Black, Blizzard Pearl White and Candy Burnt Orange. It will also come in a special KRT edition (image above). The Ninja's 648cc liquid-cooled parallel twin motor is the same one used in the Z650. The weight has dropped by 15 kilos so that should help performance and dynamics. The 2017 Ninja 650 is priced at Rs 5.69 lakh (ex-Delhi).
Ninja 300-
For 2017, the Ninja 300 gets new graphics. The entry level sports bike comes with a 296cc liquid-cooled parallel twin motor that delivers 38.9PS and 27Nm of torque. Its six-speed gearbox comes with a slipper clutch. Suspension parts include 37mm telescopic forks upfront and a UniTrak rear mono shock that is adjustable for preload. Braking is done by a 290mm petal-type disc with a 2-piston hydraulic calliper at the front and a 220mm petal-type disc with a 2-piston hydraulic calliper at the rear. The new Ninja 300 is priced at Rs 3.64 lakh (ex-Delhi)
The Versys 650 is also updated. It gets a new green colour option and a gear position indicator. All new Kawasaki bikes get optional accessories including an Akrapovic exhaust.
