Kawasaki Ninja 650R to be launched by the end of 2010

After launching new subsidiary of India Kawasaki Motors, Kawasaki may launch its new sports bike in India, the Kawasaki Ninja 650R by end of 2010. Japan based motorcycle maker, Kawasaki Motors has joint venture with Indian bike maker, Bajaj Auto. Earlier, Bajaj Auto has launched a new Kawasaki Ninja 250R model in India in last year. After launching it, the company achieved a tremendous response from Indian auto market. India Kawasaki Motor is looking forward to launch of its another bigger version- Ninja 650R. On the other hand, there is no official confirmation regarding that the production and launch in India. According to some news sources, Bajaj may assemble and sell the Kawasaki Ninja 650 R from its Chaken Plant. Kawasaki Ninja 650R engine will be equipped with 649cc engine capacity, Four-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, 4 valve per cylinder, parallel twin which able to generate a maximum power of 63.7 Bhp at 8700 rpm and maximum torque of 65.68 Nm at 7000 rpm mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox. Ninja 650R is expected to be retailed between Rs. 4 to 5 lakh. However, it may go up to 6 lakhs if launched as CBU unit. The new version will compete with other sports bikes in India including 2010 Yamaha FZ6R, Suzuki SV650SF, Honda Cbr600rr etc. Even though, Amit Nandi, head-probiking, Bajaj Auto Limited said," We are targeting to sell around 1k units of baby Ninja 250R by the end of 2010 and we also target to launch approx. 40-odd Probiking showrooms all around the country. Bajaj Auto is going to focus on high-end bikes manufacture and sell in both domestic and international markets. Bajaj Auto's most populars bikes are: Bajaj Discover and Bajaj Pulsar. These bikes are also getting overwhelming response from Indian auto market.
