Kawasaki Ninja gets bigger and better

Kawasaki believes in giving better than the best, and so it delivers! Only weeks after the unveiling of the updated 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 250R, they have announced another masterpiece, i.e. Kawasaki Ninja 300. This brand new entry-level sportsbike offers some really good horsepower, that too at an affordable price. One may wonder why would they launch another bike with the horsepower upped by a mere 50cc, and the answer lies in the Honda CBR 250R. Not the kind to take competition lightly, the Japan-based company launched Ninja 300R to counter the launch of the rather powerful and highly capable CBR 250R. Recently unveiled in Europe, Kawasaki does not plan to put a very high price on the 300R. In fact, it will be priced only slightly higher than the Ninja 250R, which in turn will make it quite an attractive offering.

Other than the added 50cc of horsepower, the 300R is basically a remodeled version of the 250R. Kawasaki upped the displacement to 296cc from 249cc and same for the stroke length, with an additional 7.8mm. However, 300R sports the same engine as that found in Ninja 250R. While Kawasaki increased the diameter of the intake valves, they reduced the compression from 11.6:1 to 10.6:1. This newest addition to the Ninja family is capable of producing 39bhp of power, an increase of almost 7bhp over Ninja 250R.

Also the addition of other features like the new slipper clutch, race-style back torque limiting function and optional Nissin ABS system have allowed Kawasaki to make the 300R more rider-friendly. Its styling elements also lend the 300R a rather primitive look. Technical specifications apart, it remains to be seen that what price tag does Kawasaki decide to put on this mean machine. And also there is no news if this sports bike will ever land on Indian shores.
