Makes less power than the Ninja 400!
After its highly-anticipated official launch in Indonesia, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R has now also been launched in its native land of Japan. There are some key differences between the two specifications, the biggest one being engine output.
The little Ninja’s power figure in the South East Asian market is pretty much in line with what we were expecting, but thanks to stricter emission norms in Kawasaki’s home nation, the Japanese version only manages 46PS with ram air (45PS without) compared to the Indonesian-spec’s 51PS with ram air (50PS without).
This 5PS drop now means that the Japanese ZX-25R makes less power than the 399cc parallel-twin Ninja 400. The already quite low torque figure of 22.9Nm in the Indonesian version is now down to just 21Nm in the land of the rising sun. Pair all this with the fact that it weighs a couple of kilos more, and performance is sure to take a hit.
Another difference is the colour options on offer: Japan gets only three choices to Indonesia’s four, with the blue colour option missing. As for pricing, it’s slightly higher in Japan, starting from 825,000 yen (Rs 5.76 lakh) to 913,000 yen (Rs 6.38 lakh), and the bike is manufactured in Thailand before being imported to Japan.
