Kawasaki recently launched the Ninja 650 BS6. Next on the cards is the Z650 BS6 and Ninja 1000 BS6. Both motorcycles are expected to launch this month itself. According to our sources, the Z650 could be priced at Rs 5.94 lakh while the Ninja 1000 could cost Rs 10.79 lakh. That’s a premium of Rs 25,000 and Rs 50,000 over the BS4 Z650 and BS4 Ninja 1000.
Model | BS4 ex-showroom price | Expected BS6 ex-showroom price | Difference |
Kawasaki Z650 | Rs 5.69 lakh | Rs 5.94 lakh | Rs 25,000 |
Kawasaki Ninja 1000 | Rs 5.29 lakh | Rs 10.79 lakh | Rs 50,00 |
The 2020 Kawasaki Z650 BS6 gets the more substantial changes of the two. It gets a new headlamp that’s similar to the Z900. The headlamp gets LED lighting and the instrument console is a 4.3-inch colour TFT unit. It gets Bluetooth connectivity and can be connected to your smartphone via the Kawasaki Rideology app. Its 650cc parallel-twin motor continues to deliver the same 68PS though torque is down from 65.7Nm at 6500rpm to 64Nm at 6700rpm. The underpinnings remain unchanged except for the new, more premium Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tyres. The new motorcycle is 2 kg lighter than before.
The Ninja 1000 BS6 gets a slightly revised bodywork. Features include a new colour TFT instrument console that gets Bluetooth connectivity with Kawasaki Rideology app. The 1043cc in-line four motor is now BS6 compliant but continues to deliver the same 142PS and 10,000rpm and 111Nm at 8000rpm. In fact, the torque comes lower in the rev range. While underpinnings remain unchanged, the Ninja 1000 BS6 weighs 2kg less than before thanks to a new single-sided exhaust that replaces the previous quad exhaust setup. It also gets plusher seat cushioning. It also gets electronic cruise control and bi-directional quickshifter.
After launching the Z650 BS6 and Ninja 1000 BS6, the next BS6 compliant Kawasaki to be launched could be the Ninja 300 BS6.
