How does Keeway India’s first supersport stack up against its closest rival
The TVS Apache RR 310 is one heck of a value-for-money proposition, especially considering the kit it offers. Keeway recently launched its first supersport for India – the K300 R – and here’s how the two supersports match up against each other, through images:
The Keeway K300 R overall packs an aggressive aesthetic, doing justice to the supersport persona. The split LED headlamps and sharp sweeping bodywork oozes sportiness; however, the front number plate holder is a massive eyesore. The TVS Apache RR 310 has majorly remained the same over the years from a design perspective, but we’re not complaining. Its edgy full fairing and bi-LED projector headlamps work well to give this bike a sporty, clean look to keep it drop-dead gorgeous.
The K300 R is powered by a 292.4cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that dishes out 27.5PS and 25Nm, paired to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch. While the figures are a tad bit less for its segment, this bike does offer two riding modes. On the other hand, at the Apache RR 310’s heart lies a 312.2cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that produces 34PS and 27.3Nm. It also gets goodies like Sport, Track, Urban and Rain riding modes and TVS’s Glide Through Technology, making it easier to ride in traffic.
The K300 R gets a dull-looking LCD display unit. While we still await specifics of this console from Keeway, we can see that the bike is equipped with hazard lights. On the other hand, the 5.5-inch TFT console on the RR 310 is smartphone compatible with navigation, and can even store virtual copies of documents like the bike’s RC card and driver’s licence.
In terms of underpinnings, the Keeway K300 R features a USD fork and a monoshock suspension setup without any adjustability. The Apache RR 310, on the other hand, too gets a USD fork and monoshock suspension; however, TVS offers a whole range of optional add-ons in the form of two kits: Dynamic and Race. Read about the differences between the two kits and what they have to offer here.
Braking duties on the K300 R are shared by a 292mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc, paired with the safety net of dual-channel ABS. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in CST RideMigra S1 110/140 rubber. The Apache RR 310 comes equipped with bigger brakes at the axial front (300mm) and rear (240mm), along with dual-channel ABS. It too gets 17-inch alloys with grippy Michelin Road 5 tyres.
The Keeway K300 R tips the scale at 165kg, making it 9kg lighter than the Apache RR 310. It also features a slightly bigger 12-litre fuel tank when compared to the 11-litre fuel tank on the Apache RR 310.
The K300 R is available in a total of three colours: Glossy White, Glossy Red and Glossy Black, priced at Rs 2,99,000, Rs 3,10,000 and Rs 3,20,000 (ex-showroom India) respectively. This is a premium of Rs 34,000 over the Apache RR 310, which is priced at Rs 2,65,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
