Auto Expo is about to blast with the upcoming launches of various two and four wheelers. Check for the latest launch, and it comes out clear that nobody is ready to launch at Christmas or New Year eve, the way it happens around Eid and Diwali. All the companies are waiting for the Expo to launch their new models. And quite right they are to wait for the right moment. Expo would bring them international buyers too! Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) too is looking forward to bring about its 100cc commuter bike. Though the news of launch was out a few months ago also, but nothing came about the launch time and price.
Now the company has clarified that they would launch the bike in the next financial year, to be exposed at Auto Expo. The Expo is to be held in January in the next year. Price of the bike, as suggested by the company, is not too high. It will lie somewhere around Rs. 45,000. To quote the VP of Sales and Marketting, HMSI, as gathered by Business Line, “We will showcase a 100 cc bike at the Auto Expo in January and launch it next fiscal.” Mr. Shinji Aoyama, HMSI President and CEO says “Our target in the next decade is to be No.1 in India. For the first time, we will introduce a mass segment motorcycle in the 100cc category … it is the first priority for us.” Not only bikes, Honda India is also planning to get new scooter in the market yet again. Its not just the Honda bikes that rule the Indian roads, their scooters too are doing huge.
As per the scenario uptil now, the scooter market is single handedly owned by Honda. Scooters like the Unicorn, Activa, Shine, etc. rule the market. The firm is planning to reach 21 lakh units sale this year. The scooter to be launched will be totally a localized one, although the product development will be done in Japan. This ultimately means, the scooter will be for Indian roads. And since it is coming from Honda’s kitty, it sure will be worth a wait! The company is already running strong with around 1,220 outlets all over the country. But Honda’s desire to grow does not end there. They still are planning yet more on improving their dealership network. Another 300 outlets might be opened up by the next year. New launches, new dealerships … seems Honda would totally revamp the market.
