It was just a while ago that Japan saw the launch of Honda on-off road CRF250L. The bike comes powered by the single cylinder 250cc power plant, which is the same engine that was used in Honda CBR250R. The rumours are pretty strong regarding the fact that this new bike will make its presence felt in India. This may be an opportunity for Honda to accomplish what they could not do with Hero Impulse, which is giving a powerful engine. Although the engine deployed in the new bike is absolutely identical with the one in CBR250R, the transmission in the two wheeler should give the bike a new, spunkier off road characteristic. Apart from the engine, in terms of appearance too, the new bike would feature a more edgier look with an aggressive appeal in comparison to the previous CRF models. The tank shrouds, side covers, and a rear fender have been designed in a way to give the bike more flamboyance and flair than ever before.
The muffler cover on the side of the bike adds icing on the cake in terms of design. The steel twin-tube frame keeps the cost of the bike in check. The two wheeler has a inverted front suspension whereas the cast aluminium monoblock is used for the swing arm which is coupled with a pro-link rear suspension. Other features offered by the bike include a multifunction digital instrumentation with Speedo, fuel gauge, clock, and trip/odo meter. The visor has a rough appearance and facilitates a a multi-reflector 60/55W headlight. There is also a provision to protect the engine from mud and ruts. The one drawback with the bike that we know of is the fuel tank capacity with a volume of only 7.7 litres.
