The company had been charging customers for the charger separately, which initiated a probe from the government
Ola Electric has announced that it will be refunding a total of Rs 130 crores, following an investigation initiated by the Ministry of Heavy Industry. The EV maker had been charging its customers an additional sum for the charger, which is in violation of the FAME-II regulations.
The Automotive Research Association Of India (ARAI) won’t be taking any action against Ola Electric. The EV manufacturer sent a letter dated April 30, 2023, on its own accord stating that it will reimburse the price of the charger to all its customers who purchased the e-scooter on or before March 30, 2023.

Ola Electric has now removed the charger cost from its price break-up on the website, though the price remains unchanged. The S1 Pro continues to retail at Rs 1,24,999 while the S1 costs Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom, inclusive of FAME-II subsidy).
Companies had been adding the charger costs separately to bring in more FAME-II benefits, but with the government taking stringent action, customers will soon get the money the manufacturers owe them.
