Piaggio India is now offering an extended warranty on its maiden offering in the country, the Piaggio Vespa LX 125 automatic scooter. This extended warranty scheme is available for all new and existing owners of the Vespa, given the fact that the scooter is less than two years old in the Indian scooter market. The existing users can buy the extended warranty, while all new buyers of the Vespa LX 125 can choose the scooter with an extended warranty right at the time of purchase. Piaggio India offers two packages of extended warranty, with one package covering the scooter for 1 year/12,000 kilometers while the other package comes with a 2 year/24,000 kilometers coverage.
At the moment, Piaggio Vespa LX125 comes with a 2 years/24,000 kilometer warranty as standard, here are the two schemes for the extended warranty and the costs of both the schemes.
1. year/12,000 Km extended warranty: Rs. 400 for new owners and Rs. 480 for existing owners.
2. years/24,000 Km extended warranty: Rs. 550 for new owners and Rs. 625 for existing owners.
The Vespa LX125 is a premium scooter and the most expensive scooter as well. The scooter is doing well in the market and it establishes Piaggio in the Indian market, however its high price tag affects it sales and it is still far behind than others. The slow sales in compare to the competition have resulted a Rs. 6,000 cut-off in its price. The stylish scooter features a monocoque steel body and this means the Vespa LX 125 is more stable even on the high speeds. The scooter comes with a high quality fit and finish. It is powered by a 125cc, air cooled, four stroke engine, which comes fitted with a 3 valve head, first for any automatic scooter in India. The engine dishes out the maximum power output of 10bhp while peak torque is rated at 10.6Nm. These specifications make the Vespa LX 125 one of the most powerful automatic scooters in India.
Piaggio India is also planing to expand its portfolio by adding mass market scooter segment. The are soon going to launch more competitively priced scooters in the Indian market. Coming 2013, we are expecting the Piaggio Fly 125 automatic scooter, which was slated in November and then in December earlier. This scooter will take on the likes of the Suzuki Access 125 and the Mahindra Rodeo 125. Unlike the Vespa LX 125, it is expected to come with a price tag around Rs. 50000 like other 125cc automatic scooter line up in India. On the other hand, the Vespa LX 125 will continue to be positioned as lifestyle scooter offering, and this segment will also be expanded with new launches.
