Royal Enfield is expected to unveil a slew of new motorcycles and concepts, including the Meteor, at EICMA 2020
[Update: Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Spotted Sans Camouflage, Launching Soon]
If you’re a hardcore Royal Enfield fan, or BikeDekho for that matter, you’d know that Royal Enfield is currently working on a number of new motorcycles. Spy shots of various test mules have been surfacing on the internet almost every week. And this Thunderbird-like motorcycle, in particular, has been at the centre of all the spy shots. The upcoming motorcycle, which is likely to be called the Meteor, has been spotted once again sans camouflage.
At first, we were under the impression that Royal Enfield was likely to bring an all-new Thunderbird for the BS6 era. But according to our dealer sources, the Thunderbird will remain identical to the BS4 model. In fact, the BS6 Thunderbird and the upcoming Meteor will coexist in Royal Enfield’s India lineup. Now, there’s no word from the company about the future of its 500cc motor once the new emission norms kick in. Moreover, sales of the company’s 500cc motorcycle have been quite low compared to other motorcycles in its lineup. Hence, we believe Royal Enfield could replace these motorcycles with a whole new range of bikes based on its new J-Platform.
Royal Enfield has already trademarked a few more names like Sherpa, Roadster, Hunter and Flying Flea. So expect a range of brand new motorcycles from the bike maker. Interestingly, another Royal Enfield, which is also likely to be built around the same J-Platform, was spotted a few days ago. Since Royal Enfield has been testing these motorcycles for quite some time now, we believe the brand might announce something big at EICMA 2020. Until then, stay tuned to BikeDekho for more updates.
