Claims to offer a whopping 240km range in one single charge
Bangalore based EV startup Simple Energy has slated the launch of the Mark 2 for May 2021. Simple Energy claims that the Mark 2 e-scooter will have enough juice to cover 240km in Eco mode on one full charge. If this claim is true, it will be the electric scooter with the highest range on sale in India. The powertrain will consist of a 4.2kWh battery coupled with an electric motor to generate 9.5PS of power and 72Nm of torque. Talking about performance, Simple Energy claims a top speed of 100kmph and acceleration from 0 to 50kmph in 3.6 seconds. Do check out the list of scooters that we expect in India for 2021.
The Mark 2 e-scooter will feature three riding modes- Eco, Normal and Sports. It will also have an IP67 rated touchscreen display, built-in navigation, and Bluetooth connectivity. Simple Energy will first launch the Mark 2 in Bangalore and Delhi followed by Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad.
We expect it to be priced around Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom) and once launched, Simple Energy’s Mark 2 will compete against the Bajaj Chetak, Ather 450X. For reference, the Bajaj Chetak has a maximum range of 95km and the Ather 450X juices out at 85km. Our team has ridden the Ather 450X and here’s what it’s like in the real world.
