Suzuki Motorcycle India has unveiled the SV650 at the Auto Expo 2020 in the country. The Suzuki SV650 is the Japanese brand’s first middle-weight neo-retro motorcycle in India. Expect the company to launch the motorcycle in a few weeks.

When launched, it will be the brand’s most affordable big bike in the country, comfortably undercutting the Suzuki GSX-S750. Suzuki is likely to price the bike around Rs 6 lakh to Rs 6.2 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Suzuki SV650 comes with a 645cc liquid-cooled V-twin motor, churning out 76PS at 8500rpm and 64Nm at 8100rpm. It is paired to a 6-speed transmission. As far as electronic aids are concerned, the motorcycle is pretty old school. It features only dual-channel ABS, Suzuki Easy Start System (for convenient start-ups), and a low-rpm assist (to ensure the bike can crawl easily in traffic). If you’re wondering about its mileage, Suzuki claims it can return an impressive 30.02kmpl.

The underpinnings are also run-of-the-mill components -- a 41mm telescopic front fork and a 7-step preload-adjustable rear linked monoshock. The 120-section front and the 160-section rear tyres are brought to a halt using twin 290mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc. With a halogen headlamp, LED tail lamp, bulb indicators, and an all-LCD instrument cluster, the feature list isn’t all that impressive for a big bike.

The Suzuki SV650 will be a more premium alternative to the Royal Enfield 650 twins. But in its segment, it rivals the Kawasaki Z650 and the CFMoto 650 NK. Suzuki is likely to bring the bike via the CKD route, making it the fourth motorcycle in the country to be assembled, after the Suzuki Hayabusa, GSX-S750, and V-Strom 650 XT.
