This funky electric scoot also packs zippy performance
Gogoro announced the start of its Indian innings yesterday, partnering with Zypp Electric to provide solutions for last-mile B2B delivery services. While the Taiwanese giant has chosen its formidable 2 Series electric scooter as its test bench for this pilot programme, it also showcased a Gogoro Supersport, which will be used to run a similar test programme for the B2C segment.
Let's take a closer look at the Gogoro Supersport electric scooter in these images and see what it offers to the Indian market.
Motor
The Gogoro Supersport is powered by a liquid-cooled, permanent magnet synchronous motor producing peak power of 7.6kW and maximum torque of 229Nm at the rear wheel.
Battery
Just like all Gogoro electric scooters, the Supersport too uses the brand’s geeky battery swapping technology. The Supersport is equipped with two battery packs, each weighing 10kg and having a capacity of 1.3kWh. The 2.6kWh battery pack, according to Gogoro’s specs, will take the e-scooter about 170km, which is Ola S1 Pro territory. That said, this range is achieved at a 30kmph cruising speed.
Features
The Gogoro Supersport has quite a few party tricks that put some premium electric scooters in India to shame.
The Gogoro Supersport also gets a keyless entry and is unlocked using a NFC smartcard. The handle is locked automatically, and it also offers enhanced safety alerts like auto lock timer, TPMS, overspeed alerts, and remote tracking capabilities.
In addition, the Gogoro Supersport gets futuristic-looking LED lighting all around and a negative LCD instrument console with funky colours.
There are five riding modes on offer as well - Smart, Normal, Super Boost, Rain and Low Energy. However, the Gogoro Supersport showcased here gets traction control and cruise control as optional add-ons.
Underpinnings
The Gogoro Supersport is suspended on a telescopic fork along with dual preload-adjustable shocks.
Braking is handled by a 245mm disc up front and a 190mm unit at the rear along with CBS (Combined Braking System).
The 14-inch front and 13-inch rear wheels are shod with Michelin City Grip Saver tyres; a 100-section at the front and a 110-section one at the rear.
