The BattRE Stor:ie gets Bluetooth connectivity, navigation and costs under Rs 1 lakh
After unveiling it on 6th June 2022, Jaipur-based electric mobility start-up Batt:RE has launched its new scooter, the Stor:ie (let’s call it Storie) at a price of Rs 89,600 (ex-showroom, excluding FAME II state subsidy). The effective price is expected to go down further as the e-scooter is eligible for the two subsidies.
The Storie adopts a retro design with an overall theme that somewhat resembles some of the Vespa scooters. The scooter gets a halogen headlight as well as bulb indicators with an otherwise clean and uncluttered look.
Powering the Storie is a Lucas TVS-sourced hub motor that produces 1.5kW of continuous power with a peak power output of 2kW and 20Nm at the wheel. This motor is connected to a 3.1kWh removable battery pack that weighs 18 kg. BattRE claims an ICAT (International Centre for Automotive Technology) certified range of 132km on a single charge for the EV, with a claimed top speed of 65 kmph.
The scooter’s instrument cluster facilitates bluetooth connectivity, call alerts and turn-by-turn navigation. That helps the driver locate the charging stations nearby. Along with that, they will also have access to the scooter’s diagnostics.
On the charging front, the company intends to adopt a ‘pay and charge’ format, which should make it that much more convenient for the customer. It also gets a metal bodywork for added reliability.
The company says the Storie will be available in 300 cities across 400 dealerships in a couple of weeks. For the asking price, it goes up against the likes of the Hero Electric Photon, Okinawa PraisePro and Hero Electric NYX. That said, the Hero Electric NYX HX has a higher 138km claimed range thanks to its dual-battery setup.
