A flat discount of Rs 18k makes the bike even more affordable than before

Triumph Speed T4: Likes and Dislikes

A few months back, Triumph Motorcycles launched the Speed T4 in India as a more accessible and easy-going bike for Indian customers. It’s the cheapest Triumph bike in India. The Triumph Speed T4 is based on the same platform and has the same engine as the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X but with a very different tune. We got a chance to ride the bike and here’s what we liked and disliked about it:

Triumph Speed T4: Likes

Engine

While the Triumph Speed T4 has the same engine as the Triumph Speed 400, the T4 is tuned very differently and it is easily recognisable as soon as you start riding it. Yes, the Speed T4 makes 31PS and 36Nm, which is 9PS and 1.5Nm lower than the Speed 400, but there’s enough torque available in the lower revs. This makes it easy to ride the T4 in the city; making it effortless to ride in traffic without needing many gear shifts. However, you will feel the lack of power while riding hard.

Handling

The Triumph Speed T4 handles very well even with the non-radial tyres. The is nimble and makes swift direction changes. It’s also easier to make mid-corner corrections, should the need arise.

Ergonomics

The Speed T4 has a well-padded single-piece seat, which keeps the rider and pillion comfortable. The bike offers an upright riding posture thanks to the easy-to-reach handlebar and mid-set footpegs. The rider can sit comfortably for long hours without feeling any pain or aches.

The 806mm seat height of the Speed T4 is 3mm higher as compared to the Speed 400’s 803mm seat height. However, it is just a marginal change and can be easily manageable, without affecting the rider’s confidence.

Price

Triumph India has announced a year-end discount of Rs 18,000 on the Speed T4, making the bike even more affordable and desirable than before. This new offer brings down the bike’s prices from Rs 2,17,000 to Rs 1,99,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) but is valid for a limited time, till the stocks last.

Similar Design to The Speed 400

The Triumph Speed T4 has the same silhouette as the Speed 400 and looks very similar as well, we think the bike should have more visual differences to stand out. One major visual difference is that the Speed T4 misses out on a golden inverted fork, and instead features a conventional telescopic one.

Misses out on features

The Triumph Speed T4 comes with basic features that include a semi-digital instrument console, LED lights and a USB charging port. It misses out on the traction control, and the engine immobiliser and gets mechanical throttle instead of a ride-by-wire. All of this makes the bike feel less premium.

Stiff Rear Suspension

While the suspension setup on the Triumph Speed T4 works decently to absorb most bumps and potholes. We felt that the rear suspension is more on the stiffer side and may toss you on bigger bumps, making the ride quality slightly on the harsh side.

Non-Radial Tyres

The Triumph Speed T4 comes with 17-inch wheels, which are wrapped with 110-section front and 140-section rear non-radial MRF Zapper-FX2 tyres, which lack confidence and feedback while taking on the corners. Whereas, the 2025 Speed 400 is equipped with Vredestein radial tyres which have significantly better grip, as compared to the MRFs on the T4.

BikeDekho Says

The dislikes mentioned above aren’t deal breakers. If you like the way the Speed T4 looks and just want an easy-to-ride bike with basic features, it can be a good option. The stiff suspension isn’t a major issue and is manageable, and you can always change the tyres after purchasing the bike. Additionally, the latest year-end discounts on the Triumph Speed T4 make it an even sweeter deal, with an attractive price tag of Rs 1,99,000 (ex-showroom).
