TVS Akula 310 was one of the most breathtaking concepts at the 2016 Auto Expo that took the visitors by surprise. We have received an interesting bit that the bike will be finally making it to the production line soon. The first fully-faired motorcycle from the company will be launched in India by this year-end, some reports suggest. Prior to that, TVS will bring the much-awaited BMW G 310 R that has been developed as the first product under the TVS-BMW joint venture.
As per reports, TVS has revealed that the Akula 310 production model will be a track-focussed machine. Eventually, it means that the KTM RC series will finally have a close competition to face. We can expect the bike to come at a price near to its closest competitor- KTM RC 390 that currently retails at Rs. 2.14 lac (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Though the concept model that was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo was seen with carbon fibre panels, we believe the production model will miss out on the same to favour the pricing factor. However, you don’t need to worry as the body styling will retain most of the design lines and the aggressiveness. The use of aluminium could be deployed to keep things in accordance with weight reduction and performance enhancement.
The TVS Akula 310 will draw its power from a 313cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine mated to a six-speed transmission. The motor will generate a maximum power of 33.6bhp at 9,000rpm with a peak torque of 28Nm coming at 7,500rpm. This is the same engine that will come fitted in the BMW G 310 R as well with a different engine map given its purpose.. Other features seen in the concept model were inverted front forks, ABS equipped dual disc brakes, fully-digital instrumentation and a rear monoshock.
