The German marque BMW and the Indian two-wheeler manufacturer TVS Motor Company became partners two years ago to develop a sub-500cc premium bike. Now, the news in the air is that TVS Apache 200 and BMW G 310 R will share the same service outlets. Existing TVS dealers will be given special treatment for completing the task of setting up TVS-BMW service center's at selected locations.
This is one way where BMW Motorrad could succeed in making its presence strong in India. It is not confirmed yet that the same service outlet scheme will be applied for retailing the bikes as well.
TVS-BMW G 310 R is a lightweight naked street bike that will touch the Indian shores by mid-2016. Powering the bike is 313cc, two overhead camshafts 4-stroke, liquid cooled, four valves, single cylinder engine that come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The mill develops 34 bhp of power at 9500 rpm along with a peak torque of 28 Nm at 7500 rpm. It shares its designs with BMW S 1000 R.
On the other side, the TVS Apache 200 is propelled by a 200cc, air-cooled, 4-valves, single-cylinder engine that is coupled to a 5-speed transmission. It will be fitted with oil-cooler for premium performance. It is also expected to be equipped with Electronic Fuel Injection System (EFI) that will further improve the power output. Its design is inspired from Draken Concept, which was first unveiled at 2014 Auto Expo. It will compete well with KTM Duke 200.
