Since the past few days, the much anticipated TVS Apache RTR 200 has been a hot topic on the Internet with its launch imminent within a month. It has been spied again, this time in Chennai. The latest images reveal some more details about the upcoming bike which will become the flagship product in the TVS line-up once launched. Recent reports suggest that TVS may roll out the Apache RTR 200 as early as January 20, though it is still possible that the company may time its launch with the 2016 Indian Auto Expo next month.
Though heavily camouflaged, the test mule in the latest spy images show that the Apache 200 has retained the styling from its predecessors. The bike has been inspired by the design of the TVS Draken concept, which was showcased during the previous edition of the Auto Expo. The flagship Apache 200 will come equipped with a host of interesting features including an all-new integrated racing speedometer console, a side-stand warning light, dual-channel ABS and much more. The beast is also rumoured to come shod with Pirelli tyres, for superior all-round grip. The Indonesian model was spied testing with the same.
However, to keep the price competitive, TVS might bring the Apache 200 with locally-sourced tyres in the domestic market. Some reports have even claimed that the new TVS Apache RTR 200 will beat the KTM 200 Duke in terms of acceleration and its 0-60kmph sprint is rumoured to take less than 3.5 seconds. While earlier spy images showed it had clip-on handlebars, the bike seen in these spy images sports a single-piece type handlebar, similar to that of the 200 Duke. This makes us believe that TVS is now readying the bike as a tough and direct rival to the 200 Duke rival. Talking of mechanicals, the TVS Apache 200 will be powered by a 200cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that is expected to generate power and torque of 25bhp and 22Nm respectively. The bike will hopefully come with a price tag of Rs. 1.20 lakh and might prove a game-changer in the segment.
