TVS calls its new single-channel ABS unit Super Moto ABS
- TVS has updated its entire sub-200cc Apache RTR range with single-channel ABS.
- The price hike for the single-channel ABS variants ranges from Rs 6,100 to Rs 6,700.
- The Apache RTR 180 now gets a single-channel ABS instead of the previous dual-channel unit.
With the ABS deadline just a few days away, TVS has updated its entire Apache RTR range of bikes with ABS. The bikes in question include the Apache RTR 160, Apache RTR 160 4V and Apache RTR 180. All the bikes have been updated with a single-channel ABS unit which TVS calls ‘Super Moto’ ABS. Some large-capacity street bikes offer the option of switching off rear wheel ABS which is called the Supermoto ABS mode. With the single channel ABS, you do not have the option of switching off the rear wheel ABS and hence, it's technically not the same as Supermoto ABS mode.

While we were expecting TVS to discontinue the RTR 160, it has been given a new lease of life with new graphics, seats and new handlebar end weights to reduced vibrations. The new RTR 160 is available in both rear disc ABS and rear drum ABS variants.
While the Apache RTR 180 used to come with dual-channel ABS, the updated bike gets a single-channel ABS unit. This has led to a price drop of Rs 3,408 over the previous dual-channel ABS-equipped bike.
All three variants of the Apache RTR 160 4V ABS command a premium of Rs 6,640 over their non-ABS counterparts. These include the Apache RTR 160 Fi ABS, RTR 160 carb with rear disc and RTR 160 carb with rear drum.
TVS had earlier updated one variant of the Apache RTR 200 4V with ABS. And while the RTR 200 carb with rear disc will continue to be sold with dual-channel ABS, the FI variant still does not get ABS updates. TVS has assured us that the FI variant will also get ABS in the coming months.
