TVS-BMW G 310R Unveiled

BMW Motorrad has fired a cracker this Diwali as it unveils its entry-level motorcycle, G 310R. This is the first offering by the German manufacturer that will be produced at TVS Motor Company’s facility in Bangalore but will be crafted and engineered by BMW in Munich, Germany. The motorcycle is expected to go on sale next year at the start of the new financial year.

BMW G 310R houses a 313cc, single cylinder liquid-cooled mill that produces 34 bhp of power at 9,500 rpm with a torque of 28 Nm at 7,500 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The motorcycle progresses on 110/70 R17 front and 150/60 R17 rear tyres. The stopping power is provided by 300mm and 240mm disc brakes at the front and rear wheel respectively. In terms of safety and comfort, it has a two-channel ABS and inverted forks up front.

As far as the looks are concerned, G 310R carry similar design as BMW Motorrad’s other offerings like S1000R and R1200R. The bike weighs 158 kilograms, i.e., and ideal weight for bikes of this segment. TVS is also expected to roll out its version of this bike, but it is expected to be less pricey and will target a different audience altogether. On the new bikes, SG Murali, Chief Financial Officer, TVS Motor Company, said, “The Project is progressing as per schedule. There is absolutely no delay and the new bikes will be launched next year. We will announce the details along with our partners.”
