The upcoming 125cc motorcycle from TVS is feature-laden and how!
[UPDATE: TVS has launched its 125cc offering, called the Raider. To know the specs, pricing and other details, head to our launch story here]
- The upcoming TVS bike features an info-packed fully digital instrument cluster.
- It gets a split-seat setup, dual-tone colour scheme, and a uniquely shaped headlamp DRL.
- Expect it to be priced on par with other premium 125cc commuters like the Hero Glamour X-Tec and the Honda SP125.
TVS is set to launch its new 125cc motorcycle tomorrow. There is still some uncertainty regarding the bike’s name as we believed it would be called the Fiero 125 (you can learn more in our exclusive report) but the teasers bear an ‘R’ logo, hinting that the bike might just be named something starting with the same letter. Fans will recall the trademark for the name ‘Retron’ (appeared in November). Here are the details inferred from the teaser:
The fuel tank features sporty-looking tank extensions along with a premium 3D TVS logo. The wide single-piece handlebar seems to have premium-looking switchgear, and the instrument is a fully digital unit. The display check screen reveals quite a few interesting details about the motorcycle. You can see the speedometer, tachometer, gear position indicator, clock, helmet reminder, telltale lights, remaining range indicator, average mileage indicator, dual tripmeters, and odometer.
There also seems to be Eco and Power indicators, likely for the Econometer, which shows how efficiently you’re riding based on the speed and throttle input. The TVS Radeon, for example, features an Econometer. The upcoming bike also gets an ‘A’-shaped icon, indicating the presence of a start/stop system that the company calls ‘TVS intelliGO’ in the Jupiter. We’ve yet to see whether it has smartphone connectivity. The motorcycle gets a sporty, chiselled split-seat setup along with a chunky single-piece grab rail.

The TVS 125cc bike will likely be powered by an engine derived from the TVS NTorq 125. In the sporty scooter, the 124.8cc single-cylinder fuel-injected 3-valve engine churns out 9.38PS and 10.5Nm. Expect this motorcycle to make a bit more power, likely paired with a 5-speed transmission.
The bike employs a telescopic front fork, and the rear is likely to get a pair of shock absorbers. It will probably get a disc brake or a drum unit as an option at the front and a drum brake at the rear. Other notable features include an all-LED headlamp and tail lamp with bulb indicators.
Expect TVS to price this motorcycle at around Rs 75,000 - Rs 80,000 (ex-showroom), in the ballpark of other premium 125cc bikes like the Hero Glamour X-Tec and Honda SP125.
The bike sure looks like another promising, feature-packed product from TVS. The company hasn’t had a particularly successful run in the 125cc segment, with the TVS Flame getting mired in controversy and the Phoenix 125 also not quite making the mark. With the upcoming 125cc motorcycle, the timing seems perfect, considering this segment is becoming the next 150cc space as the bikes in the 150cc displacement category are becoming prohibitively expensive.
