Both the products will lead the brands foray in the commute-friendly 125cc motorcycle and scooter segment
In November 2020, we broke the news that TVS will be resurrecting the Fiero moniker, albeit in a new avatar. Now, we have confirmation that the Hosur-based manufacturer will be launching the Fiero 125 on September 16. The new commuter will be accompanied by the TVS Jupiter 125. Both the products will lead the company’s foray in the popular 125cc segment.
At the moment, TVS’s commuter-centric motorcycle portfolio includes only 100cc and 110cc offerings like the TVS Sport, Star City and the Radeon. However, with the growing popularity of 125cc motorcycles, TVS was bound to step into the segment.

While TVS has been tight-lipped about the details of the motorcycle, we expect the Fiero to be on the lines of the Honda SP125, the Hero Glamour XTec and Bajaj Pulsar NS125. These motorcycles have been consistently driving the sales of their respective brands, and the Fiero too will now compete for a piece of the pie.
TVS doesn’t have a 125cc motorcycle on sale in the country at the moment, however, in select Asian and Latin American markets, the brand has products like TVS Stryker and TVS ZT 125. It is likely that the same 124.5cc single-cylinder motor could be deployed on the new Fiero. The motor is capable of making 11PS at 8000rpm and 10.8Nm at 5500rpm.
In the case of the Jupiter 125, TVS already has been having a successful run with the NTorq 125, so is there room for another 125cc scooter? Yes. While the NTorq focuses on the youth, the Jupiter 125 will cater to the mature audience.
So, even though TVS might use the same 124.8cc 3-valve engine for the Jupiter 125, it's likely to retune the engine for better fuel economy. In terms of features, do not expect it to pack a loaded instrument console like the NTorq. Rather, TVS could apt for a slightly cost-effective alternative with an analog console and a digital inlay, like the 110cc Jupiter. The Jupiter 125 will lock horns with established players like the Suzuki Access 125, Honda Activa 125 and the Hero Destini 125.
Pricing will play a crucial role for both the products. TVS’s pricing strategy for other products has been working well, and with these two products, it shouldn’t be different. We expect the TVS Fiero to be priced around Rs 75,000, while the Jupiter 125 may be priced close to the base variant of the NTorq 125 which carries a tag of Rs 72,270 (ex-showroom).
