Comes with a hybrid boost!
TVS Motor has introduced the all-new 2024 Jupiter in India. It is priced from Rs 73,700 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and goes up to Rs 87,250 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This latest version comes with a significant upgrade: a new engine, a fresh design, and an extensive list of new features. The scooter is powered by a new 113.3cc hybrid engine that delivers 8.02PS at 6,500rpm and 9.2Nm at 4,500rpm in standard mode, while it can produce 9.8Nm at 5,000rpm with assist. It also features Start-Stop technology that claims to boost mileage. The engine refinement has increased along with the fuel efficiency, thanks to its hybrid configuration. A lot has evolved since the previous model, and here are things we like and dislike about the new 2024 TVS Jupiter.
Things We Like
1. Modern Design:
The revamped design of the 2024 TVS Jupiter feels fresh and modern, which will attract younger riders. Its sleek, updated look gives the scooter a stylish presence on the road.
2. Peppy Engine Performance:
The new 113.3cc hybrid engine delivers a lively performance, especially up to 50 kmph. Even at higher speeds, the engine feels smooth and refined, offering a pleasant riding experience without vibrations or discomfort.
3. Intelligent iGO Technology:
The new mild-hybrid tech helps with quick overtakes by providing a temporary torque boost at the twist of the throttle. It adds to the scooter’s practicality and makes city commuting more enjoyable, giving you that extra push when needed.
4. Tyres with Excellent Grip:
The TVS Eurogrip Protorq Extreme tyres offer great traction, especially in dry conditions. These tyres provide confidence to the rider, improving overall handling and stability.
5. Packed with Features:
The new vertically stacked instrument console is full of features. It includes TVS’ SmartXonnect system for smartphone connectivity, enabling call/SMS alerts, navigation, and voice assistance. Additionally, the "Find Me" feature is a handy touch in crowded parking spaces.
6. Competitive Pricing:
With prices starting from Rs 73,700 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the base variant and Rs 87,250 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the top end variant, the new Jupiter is priced attractively, considering the features it offers. The combination of design, performance, and tech makes it a value-for-money option.
Things We Don’t Like
1. Limited Space for Taller Riders:
One downside is the limited room on offer for taller riders. For those around 5’10” and above, the seating position may feel cramped, especially during longer rides and your knees might touch the apron while taking u-turns.
2. Disc Brake Variant Restrictions:
Unfortunately, the disc brake variant of the TVS Jupiter is only available with the SmartXonnect feature, meaning you’re forced to pay extra for Bluetooth functionality, even if you don’t need it. This could be a turn-off for riders who only want the disc brake option without the added tech.
3. Service and Spare Parts Availability:
TVS is known to have issues with service and spare parts availability. This could be a concern for potential buyers, as finding reliable service centers and parts may prove to be more difficult in certain areas.
Verdict
The 2024 TVS Jupiter is a promising scooter, offering modern design, a feature-packed console, and a peppy hybrid engine. While it may not be the best choice for taller riders or those who don’t want Bluetooth functionality bundled with disc brakes, its competitive price and strong feature set make it a great option for city commuting. The scooter’s performance, especially with its hybrid assist, and the extra practicality features like good underseat storage and a comfortable seat, position it as a good family scooter. However, potential buyers should consider the known service and parts availability issues before making their final decision.
