The home grown manufacturer- TVS Motor has launched the new Scooty Zest in Chennai at Rs. 42,300 (ex-showroom, Delhi). TVS Scooty is the most popular female specific scooter brand in India and the Zest is the most advanced model in the series.
First showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo, the scooter is said to share the technology with the company's latest and one of the most successful products- Jupiter. The new Scooty Zest gets an all new design at the rear with unique tail and rear indicator lamps. Front of the scooter looks quite similar to its sibling Scooty Pep Plus apart from the small modifications made in the headlamp and front indicators.
The 2015 TVS Scooty Zest has a longer wheelbase of 1250mm, which provides a long seat and more leg-space on foot-board. Seat has been designed to provide better comfort with a convenient best-in-class under-seat storage of 19-litres. The zippy scooter has a kerb weight of just 97 kgs and 760mm seat height, which is further a benefit for the female riders.
Propelling the new TVS Scooty Zest is the 109.7cc CVT-i engine, which also powers the Jupiter and new Wego. The 4-stroke, forced air-cooled engine belts out 7.9bhp of maximum power at 7,500rpm along with a peak torque of 8.7Nm at 5,500rpm. The company claims that the scooter is capable to deliver a mileage of upto 62kmpl and goes from 0 to 60kmph mark in just 11.1 seconds.
Other features of the new Scooty Zest are first-in-class backlit speedometer, telescopic front forks, double rated unit suspension at the rear, wide seat, open glove box, 2 fordable bag hooks, Econometer and long-idling indicator. The black painted 10-inch plate type wheels are covered by 90/100 tubeless tyres and the braking has been made satisfactory with a 110mm front and 130mm rear drum type brake system.
The TVS Scooty Zest has been made available in five vibrant colours- Dynamic White, Terrific Torquoise, Poerful Pink, Fiery Red and Daring Black, It is a female specific ride and competes with the Hero Pleasure, Honda Activa-i, Yamaha Ray and Suzuki Let's.
