TVS Updates Entire Portfolio With ABS And CBS, Reveals Prices

The brand will continue selling non-ABS motorcycle models until stocks last

TVS has updated its entire portfolio with the safety net of SBT (Synchronised Braking Technology) and ABS in order to comply with the Indian government’s new safety norms. Currently, the brand has five scooters and nine bikes on offer in the Indian market. While the scooter range has been completely updated with SBT, the company still offers a couple of non-ABS motorcycle models on its website. TVS will continue selling these motorcycles until stocks last but it is not allowed to manufacture any more of them as per the government regulations.

That said, there are a couple of exceptions. For instance, while the Apache RTR 200 4V Fi variant still doesn’t have ABS, TVS has assured us that it will be launching the bike with the crucial safety update in the coming months. To draw a comparison, the inclusion of SBT/CBS and ABS has resulted in a price hike or around Rs 600 - Rs 700 and Rs 6,000- Rs 13,000 respectively. The huge price difference between the ABS models is attributed to the use of single-channel and dual-channel ABS. 

Lately, TVS Motors has rolled out a couple of other cosmetic and mechanical updates for its scooters and motorcycles. This includes two new colours for the TVS Scooty Pep and the TVS Radeon, a drum brake variant of the NTorq 125, and the addition of a slipper clutch on the Apache RR 310.
