- Power and torque figures remain unchanged.
- Has put on 5kg of weight.
TVS’ most affordable two-wheeler, the XL100 -- in its two variants: Comfort and Heavy Duty with i-Touchstart -- has been updated to meet BS6 emissions. The moped now comes with fuel-injection and an onboard diagnostics indicator which lets you know if there’s something wrong with the engine. You can get the XL100 Comfort i-Touchstart for Rs 44,614 (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the Heavy Duty iTouchstart variant will set you back by Rs 42,362 (ex-showroom, Pune). That’s a price hike of Rs 3,340 and Rs 2,990 over their respective BS4 models. You can also opt for the Heavy Duty Special Edition BS6 model which now retails at Rs 43,215 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Thankfully, performance hasn’t taken a hit. The TVS XL100 continues to use the same 99.7cc air-cooled engine that puts out 4.4PS at 6000rpm and 6.5Nm of torque at 3500rpm. That said, the addition of fuel-injection has improved the XL100’s fuel-efficiency by 15 per cent according to TVS.
The moped remains unchanged mechanically as well. It uses the same hardware as before -- a telescopic fork and a twin shock absorber at the rear. Braking duties are handled by drum units at both ends. However, the updates have resulted in a weight gain of 5kg over the BS4 model.
In terms of features, the XL100 Comfort and Heavy Duty i-Touchstart come equipped with a USB charging port, an engine cut-off and start switch, reserve fuel indicator, an LED DRL placed below the headlamp and a long seat. It also features a roll-over sensor which cuts off the engine in case of a fall.
These changes will surely make the TVS XL100 range a compelling proposition for customers on a budget.
