Bajaj’s Avenger range has seen a lot of variations till now. First, the company launched a smaller capacity Avenger 150, which was replaced by the Avenger 180. However, as we had reported earlier, Bajaj is all set to launch a new Avenger 160. The upcoming Avenger 160 ABS variant is priced at Rs 82,500 (ex-showroom Mumbai). At this price, it is cheaper than the Avenger 180 by 5,577 and will be around Rs 25,500 more affordable than its chief rival, the Suzuki Intruder. We expect the upcoming Avenger 160 to replace the Avenger 180.

The upcoming emission norms could be one of the reasons why Bajaj has decided to bring the smaller Avenger 160 into the equation. The Avenger 160 will be powered by the 160.3cc single-cylinder air- and oil-cooled engine from the NS160. It produces 15.5PS at 8500rpm and 14.6Nm at 6500rpm and is mated to a five-speed gearbox.

Going by past experience, we expect the Bajaj Avenger 160 to carry forward the same design and features as the Avenger 180. However, the new Avenger 160 could get new colours and graphics. As the new safety norms are already in effect, the new Avenger 160 will get single-channel ABS as standard.

There is still no confirmation about the official launch, but dealer sources reliably inform us that the motorcycle will hit showrooms by next month.
