(Update: KTM has launched the 2024 390 Duke and 250 Duke at really competitive prices)

KTM and Husqvarna are all set to Increase the temperatures even further in the sub-500cc bike segment in India. And with that, the updated Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and next-gen KTM 390 Duke have been spied testing together.

Despite heavy camouflage on the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, we can see that the bike’s design language looks similar as the one spied earlier with minimalistic styling. However, this time around the bike runs on alloy wheels, whereas the older test mules were spotted with spoke wheels. It could be that the Swedish bikemaker is still testing out the correct wheel setup for the 401.

Apart from that, the Svartpilen 401 gets a split seat and skips on a bash plate. The console on the test mule appears to be a square-shaped unit and is likely to be a TFT, unlike the circular LCD unit in the current-gen model.

Both, Svartpilen 401 and next-gen KTM 390 Duke, are based on the same platform. That means they both will get a new single-cylinder liquid-cooled 399cc engine, however, expect different tuning on both bikes. For perspective, the UK-spec KTM 390 Duke and Husqvarna Svartpilen make 43.5PS and 37Nm.

Even the underpinnings on both bikes are the same – adjustable USD fork and offset monoshock suspension setup. That said, the Husky test mule seems to have different disc rotors as compared to the next-gen 390 Duke. Oh, and the Husky seems to be running on MRF Revz D rubbers.

There are no new changes visible in the next-gen 390 Duke. The upcoming KTM bike has been spied plenty of times by now, and you can head here for all the exclusive information on the bike.

Expect the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 to debut by mid-2024 with an estimated price tag of Rs 3.30 lakh, whereas the next-gen KTM 390 Duke could come with a sticker price of Rs 3.5 lakh, ex-showroom. It could launch by the end of this year or in early 2024, on the 30 years anniversary of the Duke moniker.

Once launched, the bikes will rival the QJ Motor SRK 400, BMW G 310 R, Bajaj Dominar 400, Honda CB300R, Triumph Speed 400 and the upcoming Royal Enfield Hunter 450.
