The 2014 Indian Auto Expo is going to magnificent, as there are loads of speculated and confirmed new arrivals to be showcased by almost all the renowned two-wheeler manufacturers from across the world. The Italian auto major, Piaggio will now bring in the products from its own international motorcycle brands like Moto Guzzi and Aprilia. Though the Vespa 125 Sport is going to be launched by the company in the second half of the February month, it might get showcased in the event.
Moto Guzzi is going to come with two models in the country. The first bike is a cruiser, christened as Moto Guzzi California 1400 while the other one is a Roadster, Bellagio. Both these machines are very powerful and thrilling. Designed with a brilliant amalgamation of sportiness and muscularity, these bikes give a great experience and add to the personality.
California 1400 cruiser is loaded with a 4-stroke, 4-valve, 90° V-twin engine with 3-level traction control, Ride by Wire with 3 engine management maps, standard Cruise Control and dual ignition. The mill creates the top power of 96bhp at 6500rpm with 120Nm of peak torque produced at 2750rpm. This is a luxury cruiser, with comfortable riding position and fat and grasping tyres, the perfect feel of a cruiser is granted.
Moto Guzzi Bellagio is powered with a 940cc, 90’ V Twin, OHV, 2 valves per cylinder, air cooled, 4 stroke engine. The engine is mated with the six-speed manual transmission. The maximum power generated by the mill is 73bhp while the peak torque is 78Nm. Bike freaks can easily count on this machine, it is heavy, ferocious and full of style.
Piaggio will also launch a bike from its other subsidiary Aprilia. It will launch the RSV4 , which is a supersports bike. It is an elegant machine equipped with the Aprilia longitudinal 65° V-4 cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid cooling system, DOHC, four valves per cylinder with 999.6cc displacement. The engine churns out the top power product of 180bhp at 12,250rpm and 115Nm of total torque value. This is a raging machine, which has high class confidence and competitive performance.
“Piaggio sees a huge potential of starting CKD operations of Aprilia and Moto Guzzi bikes in India and there are apt steps being taken in that direction,” concluded the industry source. Through CKD route, it will be easy for the company to keep the price of the motorbikes competitive and affordable compared to CBU units.
