Two-wheelers are one of the most preferred tools for commuting, both for men and women. But for everyday purposes, a lightweight scooter is a lot more convenient and effortless to use. So, here’s a list of the top five lightest scooters of 2021 that are perfect for daily commutes:
Suzuki Access 125
The Suzuki Access 125 is by far the best selling 125cc scooter we have had for a long time now. It’s not only one of the lightest scooters at 104kg, but also has a decent feature list. You get an LED headlight, fuel-injection, external fuel-filler cap, 21.8L underseat storage, front apron storage and an optional USB socket. The seat height for the Access 125 is 773mm, making it extremely accessible for shorter riders.

Hero Pleasure Plus
At 104kg, the Hero Pleasure Plus is another lightweight scooter on the list. With its curvy yet sleek design, the Hero Pleasure Plus is targeted expressly at the fairer sex, even carrying the tagline “Why should boys have all the fun?”
For the asking price of Rs 57,300 (ex-showroom Delhi), the Hero Pleasure Plus is the most affordable 110cc scooter currently on sale. You get a phone charging port, an integrated braking system and a side stand indicator. Hero also sells the Pleasure Plus in a Platinum variant, which several cosmetic tweaks and a cushioned backrest for the pillion.

Yamaha Fascino 125
Next up, we have the Yamaha Fascino 125 weighing in at 99kg. This makes it the lightest scooter in the 125cc segment, and even lighter than some 110cc scooters. The starting price of the Fascino 125 has been set at Rs 74,530 (ex-showroom Delhi). Yamaha has kept its feature list only a stop-start function and the silent starter. With a seat height of 780mm, the Fascino is pretty manageable to ride.

TVS Scooty Pep Plus
The TVS Scooty Pep Plus, the only sub-100cc scooter available in the market, is also the lightest scooter in the country, with a weight of just 93kg. TVS has priced the Scooty Pep Plus at Rs 54,374 (ex-showroom Delhi), making it also the most affordable scooter in the country. TVS has made bare to no changes to the Pep Plus’ design over the years. But with its BS6 updates, the scooter gets a cleaner engine and fuel injection system as well. Moreover, TVS has recently launched a new variant of the Scooty Pep Plus for Tamil Nadu.
Hero Electric Optima LX
With the ever-increasing fuel costs, it makes perfect sense now more than ever to opt for an electric scooter. And the Hero Electric Optima happens to be one of the lightest, weighing just 73kg and costing Rs 59,800 (pan India).
Housing a lithium-ion battery paired with a 250W BLDC motor, the Optima LX offers a range of 65km and a top speed of 25kmph. The charging time ranges from 4 to 5 hours.
