Let's find out if it makes sense to buy the Crosser 150 for a premium of around Rs 84,000 over its Indian rival
Yamaha recently launched the Crosser 150 ABS in Brazil which demands a premium of around Rs 84,000 over its Indian rival, the Hero XPulse 200 4V. To know how both these entry-level ADV's fare against each other, here's a detailed image comparison between the two.
In terms of the design, both the ADV's sport a tall and lean stance. While the fascia of both bikes features a sharp beak and windscreen, there's a difference in the headlight setup as the XPulse 200 4V employs a circular LED unit with DRL's while the Crosser 150 ABS uses halogen bulbs. Moreover, the XPulse 200 4V also comes equipped with knuckle guards.
Moving to the side, you'll notice both motorcycles get graphics, a single-piece seat and an upswept exhaust. However, the XPulse 200 4V also features an underbelly pan.
While the tail section of both the bikes gets a lean design and a tail rack. The XPulse 200 4V employs an LED taillight setup while the Crosser 150 ABS uses a halogen bulb.
On the features front, the Yamaha Crosser 150 ABS is offered with limited features such as a height-adjustable handlebar and a single-channel ABS while the XPulse 200 4V on the other hand, features toothed footpegs, a new 45-tooth rear sprocket (7 teeth more than 2V), oil-cooler, single-channel ABS and a fully digital Bluetooth-enabled LCD instrument cluster that displays turn-by-turn navigation, gear Indicator, Eco mode Indicator and call alerts.
Powering the Yamaha Crosser 150 ABS is a 149cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine that churns out 12.36PS and 12.74Nm. The speciality of this engine is the fact that it can run on different types of fuel such as petrol, ethanol or both, which further makes it more fuel-efficient. On the other hand, the Hero XPulse 200 4V draws power from a 199.6cc oil-cooled engine that runs only on petrol and puts out 19.1PS and 17.35Nm.
The ride of both the bikes is taken care of by a telescopic fork upfront and a monoshock at the rear.
For braking, while the Yamaha Crosser 150 ABS employs a 245/203mm disc brake setup the Hero XPulse 200 4V on the other hand, mounts a 276mm disc upfront and a 220mm disc at the rear. Both bikes, however, do come equipped with a single-channel ABS as a safety feature.
While both bikes use spoke wheels, there's a difference in the wheel size. The Crosser 150 ABS rolls on a 19/17-inch wheel setup wrapped in Metzeler Tourance tyres. Meanwhile, the XPulse 200 4V uses a 21-inch wheel upfront and an 18-inch wheel at the rear.
Moving to the price and colour options. The Yamaha Crosser 150 ABS is available in two variants: 150S and 150Z that are priced at R$ 15,590 (around Rs 2.09 lakh) and R$ 15,790 (around Rs 2.12 lakh) and is offered in a choice of four colour options: Black Eclipse, Sports White, Competition Blue and Dakar Sand. Meanwhile, the Hero XPulse 200 4V is only offered with a standard variant priced at Rs 1,28,150 (ex-showroom Delhi), and it's available in three new colour options: Trail Blue, Blitz Blue and Red Raid.
