Yamaha surprised everybody with the launch of its middle-weight motorcycle ‘MT-09’ at the 2016 Auto Expo recently and now, they are planning another surprise on14th April, 2016. The company is holding a special press conference on the day and we believe that they could launch a new product there. The details about the launch are yet to be cleared, however, the chances of It being the Yamaha Ray-ZR are high.
The new Yamaha Ray-ZR was first showcased at the 2016 Auto expo along with the other updated products. The scooter is a major facelift of the existing Yamaha Ray-Z and retains the same platform along with the 113cc Blue Core engine. The front fascia of the scooter is completely changed and it looks much sportier than its sibling. It also gets some new features like optional alloy wheels and front disc brake. With a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT), it offers a decent top speed of around 90kmph and claims to return a fuel efficiency of up to 66kmpl.
Yamaha Motor India entered the scooter segment in September 2012 with the sporty Ray intended for female riders, followed by its male-specific version- Ray-Z and a unisex family scooter- Alpha. Currently, their latest offering in the segment is the Fascino, which is a premium scooter with retro-modern styling. However, the company has not succeeded in making any impact against its competitors in the Indian scooter market till now. Looking at the upcoming scooter- the Ray-ZR, it seems that it could help the company to achieve the target.
